Play with Clay Magnets
A two group workshop today at the Fremont Main Library. The younger group created some amazing pieces without hesitation. It took the older group more than 20 minutes to get ideas in their heads to get started. There finished pieces were extremely creative as well. Clay is the number one love of children and adults alike!
Make Your Own Beads
I was invited to the Portola Valley Library to teach patrons how to create their own beads from paper. We had a delightful time creating, visiting, and sharing our knowledge and creations with one another. The beads were beautiful too!
Paper Mosaics
March is Art is Education month at the libraries. Niles had me bring in paper mosaics for the children to design an art piece with. Mosaics are very popular, and the adults are always asking when they will get to do mosaics too! I explained that "real" mosaics is too expensive and they replied that paper was fine with them, but they'd like them shimmery and more grown up. So, if you're looking for an adult program, this one is waiting for you!
A Ladies' Event
For the most part, I work at the libraries which I love. I also love to work for private parties etc. This event was a Ladies' function, and I was asked to help these ladies create something beautiful for their home. Here are the fabulous results!! This would be great for a Mom's Night Out, a group gathering, church function, birthday party and of course, a library program!
Memory Wire Bracelets in East Palo Alto
The patrons enjoyed a day of creating at the East Palo Alto Library today. Gorgeous glass beads and wire to create their own bracelet to take home.
Art Around the World Goes to Russia
At the Pleasanton Library, we learned about Russia today and the Faberge Egg. We talked a lot about Russia and the surrounding area, the people, and much more as they also learned about the art of creating Faberge Eggs. Here are their renditions.
Mexican Tin Art at the Niles Library
Morning programming is being offered at the Niles and Irvington Libraries. We are slowly getting the public's attention regarding these adult programs. Here, the women made a Tin Art piece while joyfully chatting away and enjoying some quiet time. One patron commented, "I can't believe how relaxed I am! I can feel the tension leave my body as I create." That is such a true statement!
Enrichment Art Program in Danville
I received two requests to come up with an art program that would correlate with the books these two age groups would be reading. This is the first program that I designed around the book, "The Giver" by Lois Lowry. I read the book, then created an art program for these tweens to express the book visually. This was a great program! By the way; I ended up reading all four books in the series, I enjoyed the first so much!
Friendship Frames and Photo Cubes at Fremont Main
Two different days with two different sets of tweens. I opened the photo cube program up to younger children because we were struggling to get the tweens into the library. I suggested we change the time, and viola', they are coming in again! I enjoy watching these kids create!!
Sand Art at Irvington and Sun Catchers at Niles
The children celebrated Valentine's Day at these two libraries with two art forms; sand art, and suncatchers. These are two of my most popular crafts among the children, and you'll laugh; but the adults want to do these also!!
