DYO Journals with Teens

We had a great group of teen girls ready to create their own journals.  They enjoyed spending time picking out what they would use from the piles of pretties on a table, then get to work creating.  I loved seeing how their thoughts turned into such beautiful art!  They were quiet at the beginning but warmed up to be a fun group of girls.  One of the girls told me she had such fun! I told her I enjoyed making the journal too.  She says, " I didn't need to make the journal to have fun because you are really fun!"  Wow, what a great compliment-from a TEEN!  They asked for more programs, and Beth is excited that we'll have a regular group of creators every other month now.

Creative Journals in Portola Valley

We had a nice group making Summer Journals today.  Duct tape and doo-dads make for some great creative art time.  Look at the wonderful results!

bilma sticks at san lorenzo

We had mainly a younger group here today, and they were so delightful.  Good listeners and they really enjoyed my "crazy antics" as I danced to the Aussie music, and tried to play the Didgeridoo.  Jesse (librarian) knew it was going well when she heard the eruption of laughter when I played!  The children enjoyed making their clap sticks, and visiting with each other.  One parent asked how I control such a large group, and then said he was really happy that I chose to do this job entertaining children.  Thank you, Sir; so am I!  Look at the results...

Bilma sticks at Fremont Main

I arrived to see a very long line of children and parents ready to join my SRG fun.  I had such a great group of kids today.  So attentive and well-behaved along with wonderful teen staff to help me.  The kids got a kick out of my dancing, and trying to play the Didgeridoo.  Oh my, I sure did have fun making them laugh.  They listened to Aussie music, and Aborigine music as well, then got to creating their "clap sticks".  No parents were permitted today, so we had a surprise concert for them at the end. Parents were filming their children's performance.  What a great day!

Patriotic Candles at Fremont Main

We had a nice group of adults enjoy making patriotic candle arrangements just in time for July 4th celebrating.  I am enjoying seeing return patrons recognize others and easily starting conversations with new friends.  I wanted to help adults get a chance to meet others, and this is working exceptionally well; as I had a hard time getting their attention last night!  I love their creativity and even though they all had the same tools to work with, they came up with different arrangements.  They all comment on how much they love having these classes to come to.  One woman sent me a private message later that night that sure brightened my day!  "I don't know how to express, i will not forget today session in my life". Have I told you how much I love my job?!!!
