October 23rd  10:15  Irvington Library  Come enjoy a time of crafting as we decorate a faux pumpkin for you to take home, just in time for seasonal decorating.  Space is very limited, so arrive early.

Adult Scrapbooking Class

We had a great day at the San Lorenzo Library as I taught a few patrons how to scrapbook.  One gentlman came ready and eager to learn everything he could.  He asked a lot of questions and took notes as I spoke about the fine art of scrapbooking.  Another woman scrapbooked her love firsts, making an album of her relationship, while another woman came unprepared, so she made a page to take home and add a picture too.  Thank you, Diana, for having me.

Edible Herbs at Pacifica-Sanchez Library

Sam and I had a fabulous time teaching today to a group of patrons wanting to learn how to make a Thai Noodle Salad and a vinaigrette using fresh herbs.  This library has a beautiful community garden, so we used their lettuce, cucumber and tomatoes to make a fresh salad.  I made two vinaigrettes,  one with lemon thyme and the other with tarragon.  Both were well received.  I demonstrated how to make a Cold Thai Noodle Salad using fresh Thai Basil.  I invited an audience member to come up and help me.  The dish was so good, and everyone was quite pleased.  A mom came to me as I was leaving and said that her daughter wouldn't eat onions, but loved them in this dish.  Yay!  We all enjoyed a nice sunny afternoon on the patio, talking about food, sharing our strengths and weaknesses in cooking and baking, and trying new foods.  I'm hoping that we'll get together next spring and have an Edible Flowers program.  Thanks Chris and Nicol!

Prehistoric Pleasanton's Summer Preschool Program

50 children and their parents filled the room to make their own dinosaur puppet.  We had a blast!  The kids enjoyed coloring and designing their dinos, then putting them together.  You could hear a great many roars echoing throughout the room.  Librarian John was snuck up upon by many giggling children as they let out their roars to scare him with their dinosaurs.  This was a great craft!!  I enjoyed all the hugs of thanks too!

Summer Travel Journals

The tweens had a great time binding their own books and then creating beautiful covers and decorating their journals.  The San Lorenzo Children's Librarian enjoyed making one too!

Vacation Frames

The children had a great time at the Nile's Library today creating frames for their vacation pictures.  Here are some of their masterpieces.

Clay Play and Magnets

We had a great group of kids at Pacifica-Sanchez Library ready to play with clay.  They made some really cute pieces, then we made them into fridge magnets.
