Plant Science at Niles Library

We had a nice crowd at the Niles Library today for my Plant Science program.  Each child decorated two domed cups to house mustard and pink polka dot seeds.  They took home a science sheet filled with experiments to try out once their seeds sprout.  We had a lot of fun, including Miss Sally and Miss Cathy making cups for the library.

All Caught Up!

Alright, now I am all caught up on the blog and feel so much better.  I have had many people asking me about doing private lessons, classes and parties for them.  Contact me, and we'll talk.  There is no obligation for me to create a plan for you.  I design each activity specifically for your needs, so I don't have a price list and party plan available.  I would love to hear from you, and design something that suits your needs.

Family Scrapbooking Workshops

Fremont Main invited me to teach three workshops on beginning scrapbooking.  Between 20-40 people were at each event, and we had a great time.  Almost everyone had never scrapped before, so it was fun introducing them to scrapbooking and helping them to create a couple of pages to take home.  Many people came without pictures; but no worries, we worked around that!

Making a Garden Pot

At Fremont Main, we made clay pots into works of art.  After the children were finished designing their pots, they filled their pots with soil, then I sprinkled in seeds.  We discussed what is needed to make a plant grow, and these were very smart children!

Shrinky Dinks

Do you remember making Shrinky Dinks as a kid? I sure do! We had so much fun using container lids to make art pieces then watch them shrink in the oven.  Well, this amazing craft is back, so we went out to the Pleasanton Library and did another double program of younger and older children.  This craft is a huge hit! Even adults were thrilled to see the art pieces twist and shrivel in the oven only to come out a perfect art piece when it was done.  I bring the oven and all supplies for this program, so you only need enjoy!

Pastels at Niles

March is Art is Education month at the libraries, so I brought in Oil Pastels to use with the children at the Niles Library.  They learned that they could use their finger to blend the colors and made very creative art work.

Heart Felt Necklaces and Heart Twisters

To celebrate Valentine's Day, the Irvington and Niles libraries had me bring in heart crafts.  We had a good time making our felt necklaces and our twisters covered in hearts.

Button Jewelry

Button Jewelry making at Fremont Main was a hit!  The Tweens had a great time creating 4 pieces to take home out of buttons.  This would also be a great party!

Clay Play and Sculpture

The Pleasanton Library asked me to come teach clay sculpture to two groups of children.  For the younger group, we played with clay.  With the older group, we showed them how to use tools to get different designs. We also used stamps to create designs in the clay.  I was impressed with their creativity!

Frogs and Toads, Oh My!

At the Pacifica Library the children learned about frogs and toads. I brought Fire-bellied Toads for them to admire as we learned the differences between the two.  The children were so knowledgeable and shared their expertise as well.  Then we made frog faces, and these were a great deal of fun!

Snow Art

At the Irvington Library we created snow art using white acrylic paint on black paper with glitter and snow flake confetti.  The children took a great deal of time creating their pieces.  Look at the beauty.

Owl Suncatchers

Sun Catchers are always a hit!  These adorable owl sun catchers were loved by all.  Look at the creativity!

Fall Stained Glass Art

The children enjoyed making their faux stained glass works of art.  I love watching them create, using their imaginations to make beautiful art pieces.

Clay Play at Niles Library

What fun we had with the young ones at the Niles Library on December 11th, 2012.  I brought many colors of Cloud Clay and let the children create whatever they fancied.  I love giving them space to use their imaginations, and they sure did.  Here are a few pictures of their creations.
