SRG Teen Thank You Party

What a great group of tween/teen volunteers to celebrate today.  Pizza, music, and a craft to enjoy.  Everyone really enjoyed making their picture cube, and spent a great deal of time being creative.  This is a great tween/teen craft for limited size groups, and was so well received.  As Kat is retiring soon, I'm not sure I'll have another chance to do one of these thank you craft parties.  Thanks Kat, for allowing me the time these past years with your tween/teen volunteers!

Bugs at Portola Valley

A great group of children enjoyed meeting our Walking Sticks, Lady Beetles, and Earthworms today.  I taught about the 3 different creatures, and I was thrilled to see how much the older children knew!  Then, we  passed around sticks and worms to handle and enjoy.  The kids loved this!  Afterwards, we made a bug catcher, then went outside and I gave each child a few lady beetles to take home in their new catcher.  They loved watching thousands of lady beetles crawl all over me, them, the ground, and flying in the air.  What a great show!  Thanks Angela, for having us at your beautiful library.

Mexican Tin Art at Fremont Main

We had an awesome time creating Mexican Tin Art pieces at Fremont Main Library.  Youngest was 7 with Mom working beside him, some were 10 and then we had many teens and adults.  One guy came for the historical art class on Mexican art, not realizing it was an actual art class, but he was a good sport, stayed, and had a great time creating.  This is a fabulous art session, and a great way to teach about another culture's art and history as well.

Celebrate Your Dreams Art Party

At the Manor Branch Library in San Leandro, the children had three art pieces to design.  We had about 75 designing away!  The volunteer staff was amazing, and it was obvious that children and parents alike enjoyed making these pieces.

Mexican Tin Art

This is a beautiful art technique that I have been teaching at various libraries in Alameda County.  This is definitely for older children and adults due to the sharp edges and the intricacy of the piece.  Everyone has been very happy with their finished piece, and the process to get that accomplished.

Race Cars in Pacifica

Fifty kids of all ages had a blast designing their own race cars at the Pacifica Library.  They took great care to make the perfect car, and then had a blast racing them against the other kids down pieces of cardboard. I handed out checkered flags and tattoos to finish off the day.  The parents loved the program, and the children all left the library very excited and happy with their treasures.
Thanks Reeba, and Sarah for a great time!
